United continue ideal start with dominant Leicester win

Another substitute, Marouane Fellaini, added a second eight minutes from time.

Though there is still a slight immaturity to his game, where he holds onto the ball too long or tries a skill in the wrong area, Paul Pogba is growing into his role as a superstar footballer at Manchester United. There was a feeling of inevitability about the goal when it came.

After the break, Lukaku had a penalty kept out by the impressive Schmeichel, who achieved a feat his father Peter never managed at Old Trafford in saving a Premier League spot-kick.

Leicester nearly netted a consolation goal in added-on time but after De Gea preserved his clean sheet with a superb block from Andy King, United were able to celebrate a third successive win.

United eventually sealed the win the 81st minute as Jesse Lingard's strike was deflected into the net by Fellaini. He was among the reasons Leicester's defence had such a busy evening, yet they still looked assured enough to lock up and keep United out until the '70th minute when Rashford struck home.

The game against the Foxes could be United's biggest test yet this season, but Jose Mourinho would be confident of his side getting three points at home.

Incredibly, no team has scored against them so far despite Mourinho's side having notched 10 goals so far.

Jose Mourinho made one change from last weekend's win over Swansea City, as Rashford made way for Anthony Martial.

Maguire said: "They have waves of attacks and you expect that here at Old Trafford".

Rashford replaced Juan Mata and made an impact within three minutes. Early signs suggest that Mourinho has finally built a side capable of challenging for the league title and it would take something special to stop them this season.

If Mourinho was throwing down a challenge to Rashford with his team selection, then the 19-year-old delivered the ideal answer.

But the United manager could not find a place in his 18-man squad against Leicester for captain Michael Carrick or new £31 million defender Victor Lindelof.

They have also failed to win their last six competitive trips to Old Trafford, losing five.

It may be that Martial and Rashford are locked in a battle to start all season.

Boss Mourinho and a number of his players all spoke to MUTV and BT Sport after the game and we have summarised their key points below. Against Leicester he also continued to look unsafe, running at the Foxes' defence with his blistering pace and linking up well with Mata, Pogba and Lukaku. In his 15-25 years of playing football, he has never gone through a serious injury of this caliber that has seen him off the pitch for months rather than a couple of days.
