In place of Moncada, the White Sox reinstated third baseman Matt Davidson from the disabled list.

Chicago White Sox infielder Yoan Moncada has been placed on the disabled list after suffering a bone contusion in his right shin. He had missed two games last weekend because of shin splints.

The 22-year-old Moncada is hitting.188 with with three homers and 11 RBIs since being called up from Triple-A Charlotte in July.

On Friday night against the Chicago Cubs, rookie first baseman Rhys Hoskins became the first player since at least 1913 to hit nine or more home runs in his first 16 career games with his first-inning homer.

"When I passed third base, I had a misstep coming around it", Moncada said.

Davidson has been sidelined the past few weeks with a right wrist contusion. Before that he was batting.238 with 22 home runs and 51 RBI in 88 games.
