"Ozil is back to his best", Wenger said, via The Express, before opening up about what he told the German after the match.

"From that, performances will dictate any future for me as Everton manager".

Every club needs a narrative of progress.

In the last moments of this match, a show of goals was seen on the field.

Beneath the gaze of Farhad Moshiri, Koeman knew that the end was nigh.

"We have played against the first five from the Premier League of last season".

Alexis Sanchez has told Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson he must "learn from other players" if he is to reach "the very top of the sport".

"That would be the game you'd want".

In providing an assist for Lacazette, he also established himself as the league's assist king since his debut in September 2013.

The Gunners would answer back shortly thereafter. "We were a little bit unlucky in front of the goal but we showed our quality and scored". But it was Arsenal who took the lead in the 53rd minute.

The Gunners welcome Norwich City and Swansea City to the Emirates this week, while the pressure mounts on Ronald Koeman after his side dropped into the relegation zone.

"It's not enough to just say that Lukaku is not there".

But the Germany international returned to Arsene Wenger's starting line up at Goodison Park, scoring his first goal of the season and setting up another for Alexandre Lacazette.

Things deteriorated from thereon but Pickford cannot be blamed for abject defending.

Koeman is now firm favourite ahead of West Ham's Slaven Bilic to be the next Premier League manager to go - with his odds cut drastically on Sunday.

For the first time this season, Wenger was able to field the star trio of Ozil, Sanchez and Lacazette together. Before this shocking turn of events Arsenal had several good chances, but unfortunately for them, the strikers were either slow to react, or Jonathan Pickford had excellent saves.

Everton, meanwhile, are soldiering through with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and occasional cameos from this afternoon's scorers in Rooney and Oumar Niasse.
